The Business Journal of Milwaukee

Oshkosh Truck Corp. has contributed $100,000 to the Pentagon Memorial Fund to help finance a permanent memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on Washington, D.C., the company said Monday.

The fund seeks to raise $32 million for the construction and endowment of the memorial.

The Pentagon Memorial will feature 184 memorial units, each one dedicated to an individual victim with a place for permanent inscription of the victim's name. Of the funds raised, $22 million will go toward the construction of the memorial, and $10 million will be used to create a permanent endowment for the memorial's maintenance. Groundbreaking was held June 15.

"The attacks of September 11 changed our nation forever," Oshkosh Truck chairman, president and chief executive officer Robert Bohn said in a statement. "The victims and their families remain in our thoughts and always remind us of the horrible price of freedom for all Americans."

Oshkosh-based Oshkosh Truck Corp. (NYSE: OSK) is a manufacturer of specialty trucks and truck bodies for the fire and emergency, defense, refuse and concrete markets.
